Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes, where the existing tiles and underlying surface are suitable. We assess their condition and the preparation required before recommending an overlay. Keeping existing tiles may reduce removal work, but this needs to be confirmed for each project.
-
Yes, when the appropriate microcement system is installed over a correctly prepared surface with suitable waterproofing. The decorative finish should not be treated as a replacement for the required waterproofing system. We assess the wet-area requirements before recommending an approach.
-
Pricing depends on the surface area, existing condition, access, detailing and selected system. Send us measurements, photographs or plans so we can understand the scope and provide a tailored quote.
-
Movement in the underlying surface can lead to cracking. Stable substrates, correct preparation and appropriate treatment of joints help reduce this risk. We assess the existing surface and discuss any concerns before application.
-
Yes. Once your quote is accepted, we create a custom sample for you to view in your own space and lighting. We confirm your chosen finish in writing before application begins. The sample establishes the agreed direction, with subtle variation expected in a hand-applied finish.
-
We help you understand the preparation, finish selection and application process, with clear communication throughout. Your chosen finish is confirmed in writing before application, and we document the preparation and application work.
-
As a guide, allow 5–7 working days for areas up to 20 m² and around 7–9 working days for larger areas. Timing depends on the size, preparation, detailing and drying conditions. We confirm your project schedule before starting.
Microcement is best scheduled as one of the final trades, after wet trades, ceilings and painting are complete. We coordinate remaining installations to protect your new finish. Curing time is additional to the application period.
-
Allow at least seven days after the final sealer coat before walking on the floor, exposing the surface to water or allowing trade work on the finished areas.
Do not use cleaning products during the first 14 days.
Full hardness develops over approximately 30 days. We provide care instructions to protect your finish during this curing period.
-
Once the specified curing period has passed, clean with warm water and a suitable pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid abrasive pads, acidic cleaners, bleach and ammonia. Protect the finish from sharp objects, impact and direct heat.
We provide care instructions at handover, including when cleaning can begin and how to protect your particular surface.
-
Send us your project location, approximate dimensions and any photos or plans. We’ll clarify any extra details and provide an initial price estimate.
Prefer to talk it through? We can arrange a call or, where needed, a site visit and bring along our custom-made samples to explore colours and textures.
If you’re happy with the estimate, we’ll confirm the scope and provide a detailed quote.
